Earlier in 2019 Sergeant Shoup, Master Deputy Tanner Foerman and Deputy Dalton Sumner heard the Starke Police Department along with Starke Fire Rescue being dispatched to a residential structure fire. The deputies were the first to arrive on the scene and were confronted with a fully engulfed residence. The quick response of these Deputies, their heroic efforts to gain entry into the engulfed structure and the CPR they performed gave the victim the best possible chance of survival. The actions that were taken by the deputies were recognized by the Hall of Fame as uncommon among anyone and deserving of the highest praise.
