In a recent article, Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young shared that his department will be joining On Patrol: Live. A contract with Daytona Beach was signed in late September. Chief Young is hopeful that the Dayton Beach Police Department will be featured during Biketoberfest, which runs from Oct. 13-16. The Daytona Beach Police Department will be the first mid-season department change for On Patrol: Live.
Florida experts will know that Daytona Beach is located in Volusia County, which is already featured with On Patrol: Live. So there is some speculation that the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office may be leaving the show, but many have said that Marion County will be departing in October.
Biketoberfest is an annual motorcycle rally held in the fall in Daytona Beach, Florida since 1991 or 1992. In 1992 it was known as “Daytona Fall Tour”; in 1993, it started to be called Biketoberfest. Attendance for Biketoberfest 2013 was estimated to be 100,000 visitors. The event can be rowdy at times and certainly keeps officers busy.
It does look very likely we will see a department lineup shuffling in mid-October.
