Reelz has renewed “On Patrol: Live” through early 2026, ordering 90 new episodes of the live police ride-along series that airs Friday and Saturday nights. The deal includes an additional 90 episodes of its lead-in show “On Patrol: First Shift.” Both series stream on Reelz cable channel and Peacock’s premium tiers.
Since launching in July 2022, the show has dramatically boosted Reelz’s ratings, with primetime viewership increasing 292%. This success follows the resolution of a copyright lawsuit with A+E Networks, which had claimed the show was too similar to their former program “Live PD.”
The series returns on January 31 with new additions, including the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department joining its roster of participating law enforcement agencies and Howell Township Police Captain Tom Rizzo joining as a full-time analyst. Host Dan Abrams leads the show, which uses 50 cameras nationwide to capture both routine and high-intensity police work in real-time.
Beyond law enforcement coverage, the show partners with missing persons organizations and has helped locate 35 missing people.

Major Takeaways

  • Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department joins the show starting January 31.
  • The Hazen Police Department and Brookford Police Department return to the show.
  • Tom Rizzo officially replaces Shawn Larkin.
  • Reelz has experienced massive ratings growth due to On Patrol: Live. The show has elevated Reelz to a top 40 cable network.
  • The A&E lawsuit has been officially resolved, clearing the way for the show to expand.
