Deputy Lawrence Chavez is a law enforcement officer with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office in New Mexico. In 2025, Deputy Chavez was honored as a Hero of the Year at the Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers Heroes Luncheon for his quick actions that saved the life of a 14-year-old boy.
On April 13 2025, Deputy Chavez responded to a medical emergency where a young male had stopped breathing. Working alongside Albuquerque Fire Rescue, he assisted with medical equipment, performed CPR, and helped bring the boy back to life. His decisive actions and calm under pressure made the difference that day.
