Retirement

Dillion’s career was significantly impacted by two serious line-of-duty injuries. On July 15, 2018, while working a crash scene on Interstate 40, he was struck by a vehicle, resulting in a broken back in three locations. Four years later, on October 28, 2022, he suffered severe injuries in another accident when his right leg became caught in a pickup truck tire, causing a broken leg, skull fracture, approximately 20 brain bleeds, and a severe traumatic brain injury.

Despite extensive efforts to recover and return to full duty, the cumulative effects of these injuries led to his medical retirement. Following his departure from active law enforcement, Dillion transitioned into mental health advocacy, continuing to serve his community through speaking engagements focused on mental health awareness and officer wellness. On September 19, 2025, Dillion announced his plans to retire on social media.

His career was characterized by unwavering commitment to protecting others, even at personal cost, and his post-service work demonstrates his continued dedication to helping people through different means.
