Officer Ron Elcock

Ron Elcock is a veteran law enforcement professional with approximately 27 years of policing experience, currently serving as a Lieutenant with the Tempe Police Department in Tempe, Arizona. He began his career in Illinois, where he served for 10 years before relocating to Arizona to escape the harsh Midwest winters. Since joining Tempe PD, Elcock has held a diverse range of leadership positions, including command of the Special Victims Unit, the Media Relations Unit, and the Internal Affairs Unit.

In his media relations capacity, Elcock became a familiar face to local and national news audiences, serving as the department’s primary spokesperson on high-profile cases and policy initiatives. He provided expert commentary on incidents, including the 2018 murder of pregnant Lyft driver Kristina Howato, and explained operational decisions such as the department’s deployment of AR-15 rifles on police motorcycles. He has also contributed to community engagement efforts, appearing on the Tempe Police Department’s “Connect, Engage, Collaborate” podcast to discuss collaborative approaches between law enforcement and mental health professionals.

In recognition of his leadership and experience, Elcock was promoted to Lieutenant, assuming command of the Central City Station. He has also appeared as a guest host during Season 4, in the studio to discuss policing and answer viewer questions.
