Officer Dalton Swanger is a deputy with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee.
Deputy Swanger was first featured with On Patrol: Live during Season 3 in episode 12.20.24.
June 21st Incident
During the 06.21.25 episode, Swanger and other deputies were investigating a report of shots fired. A man began yelling at them from the woods. Swanger and other deputies began moving into the woods to investigate and a suspect began throwing rocks. One of the rocks struck Swanger in the head, knocking him out. Other deputies pulled him to safety, but he was left in critical condition.
Deputy Swanger was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he remains in intensive care in critical condition. The suspect, Christopher Michael Hensley, 44, of Powell, has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault on a first responder, domestic assault, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, and manufacturing/selling/possession of a controlled substance.
On April 4th 2026, Swanger returned to active duty with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
